Dr. Tom Lewis directed the First Annual Southeastern Summer High School Speech Institute @ FSU. John Daniels & Ruby Combs, Miami Jackson HS won first place and Louise Tidwell & Charles Willard of Plant HS won second place.  Doreen Thomas and Leeanne Reetz, Miami Jackson HS placed third. Daniels won first speaker.

Ruby Combs '58 matriculated to FSU and became a Florida State Debater.
